Di Santa Desires National Team Play

Werder Bremen striker Franco di Santo has expressed his desire to be part of the Argentine national team at the World Cup 2014. The player is once again back in the eyes of national team manager Sabella after making the move to Werder Bremen. Previously, he was playing for Wigan, who are team fighting against relegation. The move to Werder Bremen, though, gives him much bigger exposure and the possibility of adding to his international caps. Di Santo is no stranger to international football after having made his debut for the national team while playing for Wigan.

This debut came in 2012 and since then he has featured in three matches for the national team. In order to get into the squad for the World Cup 2014, he is aware that there is a lot of competition for places. The likes of Sergio Aguero and Lionel Messi are regarded as some of the best in the world, but Di Santo could get into the squad because he offers something different to the manager – height. Along with Gonzalo Higuain of Napoli, the 24-year-old remains as one of the target man strikers that Sabella can pick for the World Cup. The striker has scored four goals in 19 appearances for Werder Bremen in a very poor season for the club.

“Truth is that I try to take it easy and try to do things as long-La. I think it’s a dream in which all Argentine wants to be and which always works beyond thinking in his club. It’s something that does not happen every year and sometimes be complicated, but it would be a dream and one of the greatest things that can get me through in life. Alejandro Sabella came to see a game and could be on the list of 30 Beyond-No. That the truth that I know nothing,” said Di Santo.

WERDER NEXT?

Werder Bremen are looking to add one more Chelsea player into their ranks after the general manager of the club revealed that they are trying their best to bring in Kevin De Bruyne from the Premier league outfit. They already have former Chelsea striker Franco di Santo on their books. The Argentine recently completed the free transfer move from Wigan and he has been a regular so far. Kevin De Bruyne has been linked with an exit from Chelsea after failing to get into the first team under José Mourinho. He started the season pretty well, but he has fallen out of favour in recent weeks.

This endangers his place in the Belgian national team ahead of the World Cup 2014. Hence, he is widely linked with a move away from the club in January at least on a six-month loan deal. A number of German clubs have expressed their interest in the player. Werder Bremen have joined the race and they could potentially get the player ahead of their competitors after having known him well from last season. De Bruyne spent last season on loan at Werder Bremen where he became the best young player in the Bundesliga.

“His (Kevin de Bruyne’s) player agent is aware of our interest in his services. I will be getting to know if there is a chance to re-sign Kevin de Bruyne on loan for our club. If this is possible, we will have to wait and see if such a deal can be really worked out. Everyone at Werder Bremen knows all about the quality of Kevin de Bruyne,” said Werder Bremen’s general manager. The player has made nine appearances for Chelsea this season and has scored one goal.

The club’s general manager has revealed that De Bruyne’s agent is aware of the interest from Werder Bremen.
